You just can’t beat a Maple & Bacon combo!  They’re totally meant to be together.  They’re the kind of partnership that’s ‘never had one fight’!  The type of relationship that, if they were a real couple, and not a yummy food couple, they’d irritate everyone they know with their relationship perfection..LOL!

Maple & Bacon have got to be one of the most perfect food pairings of all time!   🙂

Just when you thought that those 2 flavors couldn’t possibly be improved, along comes sweet & sticky Maple cake drizzled in Bourbon Glaze!  Seriously?!  If you love a sweet, salty, sticky bite, these are for YOU!

~Just think of these as a chewy-gooey ‘Pancake’ bar filled with sweet Maple Syrup and salty Bacon. BOOM..Breakfast! ..yeah, that’s right!  🙂

What you’ll need:

1 lb of crispy and crumbled bacon!  Yes, of course an entire pound..duh!  😉

2 cups good quality Maple Syrup

1 stick of unsalted butter

1 tsp. Vanilla extract

1 tsp. baking powder

2 cups flour

1 egg

Directions:

Boil the Maple Syrup until it’s thickened and slightly reduced..it took about 12 minutes or so at a good bubble (the longer it simmers the stickier your bars will be, so be patient)!  Use a large pot because it bubbles up.  Make sure not to let it turn into caramel.  Once it’s thick, let it cool..while it’s cooling crisp up and crumble the bacon!  🙂

When the syrup has cooled and is warm, NOT hot..stir in the butter until it melts and combines.

Mix in all the other ingredients including the bacon..but mix in the flour last..in small batches to fully combine.  Stir it up!  🙂

Spread it out evenly, onto a parchment lined, medium sized sheet pan and put it in the fridge to chill for about an hour.

Bake it at 350 for about 12 minutes, until slightly golden!  When it’s done, let it cool!

While it’s baking make the Kentucky Bourbon glaze!

Simply add 2-3 tbsp. of Kentucky Bourbon to 1 cup of Powdered Sugar and mix well!  This is a very strong and boozy glaze, not for kiddos!  Keep some of the bars glaze-free for the little ones! 😉

Drizzle the top with the glaze…

Now, serve up a boozy, sticky maple-bacon dessert treat  breakfast!  ~Enjoy!  🙂
