** “Salt and Ketchup” term disclaimer:
.. “Salt and Ketchup” are used as a play on words in this recipe and not meant to be literal descriptors. “Salt” is really sugar sprinkled on the “Fries” to mimic the look of salt typically found on fries. “Ketchup” is really Caramel Sauce, used as a dip for the Apple Pie”Fries”. I apologize to the few (many lol) of you who didn’t quite get it, and actually dipped your salty apple pie fries into real ketchup! Sorry for the confusion! 🙂
When it comes to desserts, it just doesn’t get much better in life than a nice slice of good old, all-American Apple Pie!
Unless of course you can grab that Apple Pie and take it wherever you’d like to go.
~Perfectly flaky, pretty little, sweet sticks of portable Apple Pie!
And this Pie is in ‘French Fry’ form…another all American favorite snack delight! These “Fries” are not only super delicious, but how cute are they with their easy-to-eat, adorable presentation, and sweet sugary “salt”?!
Sweet Apple Pie Filling is the glue that lovingly holds the two flaky layers of Pie Crust together, all baked into tons of perfectly puffed, “Fries” of happiness!
Kids and kid’s at heart will just love this fun and easy way to enjoy Apple Pie! You can even make it A La Mode and dip them into some ice Cream…Ohhh yeahh! 🙂
What you’ll need for 25-30 Apple Pie Fries:
1 Package of Pillsbury Refrigerated pie Crust (2 ct.)
Approx. 1.5 cups of Apple Pie Filling
1 Egg
Sparkle Sugar for sprinkling..a.k.a. “Salt”
Caramel Sauce and/or Ice Cream for dipping
A food processor..optional!
A decorative edge roll-cutter..optional!
Directions:
Chop up the Apple Pie Filling as best as you can. I used a food processor and it worked great!
Unroll each crust and spread the Filling onto one of them…leave a 1/8″ border around the edge…(better than I did..lol)
Put the other Pie Crust on top and press lightly to secure it.
Make an egg wash by mixing the egg with a splash of water.
Brush some egg wash on the top, and sprinkle it with the Sugar “Salt”…
Cut strips about 1/2” thick and then cut those into “fry” shapes…
Place them carefully onto a parchment lined baking sheet and bake them at 350 degrees for approx. 12 minutes, or until they’re slightly golden and firm…
Make sure and serve them with some Caramel “Ketchup” for dipping…
There are plenty to go around for sharing..
Well…maybe~
Grab some for you first..just in case! ~Enjoy! 🙂
Could you use Cinnamon Applesauce instead of the apple pie filling?
Yes..definitely 🙂
There Many Types Of Filling You Can Use. You Can Make It With Any Fruits And Or Pie Fillings, Any Meat Fillings, And Or Any Cheese Fillings. Be Creative So And Other To Enjoy.
Why Do You Put Capitals At The Start Of Every Word? I’m Genuinely Curious, Because Loads Of People Do It And I Don’t Know Why.
I know it’s not totally correct, however I like to do it when I use a title of either a product or to highlight an ingredient within the sentence. I think of it as “creative expression”…looks better to me that way. In typical writing, or correspondence I’m a stickler for grammar/spelling/context perfection! 🙂
I think they would be delicious with either pineapple or even lemon. I’m definitely going to make some.
YUM!
you’re such a genius!!!
These May make an appearance at our spa day. Thanks
I am drooling…I am definitely making these this weekend!! 🙂
Is the cookie sheet sprayed/lined with anything? I can’t wait to try these =)
I used parchment paper. 🙂 Hope you love them!
I just made them using wax paper and USE some type of Spry so they wont stick ! Mine did stick , not bad but they did , they still turned out very good ! I also didn’t have apple pie filling , so I used apple sauce , and very good !
Oh my these look soo good!!!
I have pie dough in the fridge and so far I haven’t used it because I can’t decide what to make with it. All of the pie dough recipes on your site just look to die for!!!
Thanks for sharing 🙂
Sparking sugar “salt”. What is that? It’s not regular salt like table salt?
It’s just coarse sugar..for decorating. It gives the fries a salt look. 🙂
I think sprinkling both course sugar and some kosher salt would be good. Nothing better than salted caramel. I think you need something to cut all the sweet.
omg that sounds divine right now! craving a pie
Clear chunky cupcake sprinkles. Target usually has it in the baking isle with the other sprinkles.
could also turbinado sugar. its a bit more chunky and better for you than white sugar
Hobby Lobby calls it “Sanding Sugar” and sells it in multiple colors.
Yeah I was really confused by the way this was worded. I thought she meant for us to use sea salt as well. I have already put the sea salt on top so I guess I will just have to deal with it. I was thinking ‘salted caramel’ would be a nice way to cut the sweet so I didn’t think much of it. These are not actually fried potatoes Amy so if you could refrain from telling us to use “salt” in an attempt to be cute, the rest of use would really appreciate it.
I added a disclaimer…thank you for bringing that to my attention.
You need to actually use your common sense sometimes. This author was polite in her response to your snarkyness, but really, did you go out and buy ketchup to put on this dessert too?
Sometimes I fear for our future when I read comments like this from people who are too stupid to know she meant sugar. Another sign of our crappy education system, I guess. 🙁
Haha..amen! 🙂
These look delicious!
But seriously, people actually thinking that was real salt and ketchup? Idiot alert….
Your type of comment is the reason so many stop sharing and blogging – UGH.
Those are scare quotes, guys. Sugar “Salt” reads as Sugar (Not actually salt). This is why you don’t use them for emphasis. Eg: “Great” Bargains!
Love this site and the recipes. I would have thought that everyone knew, when something is in quotes after something, it means NOT literally! Just looks like!
Keep up the good work.
Aww…thank you and LOL!!
I have tried these with both apple and pineapple. They are delicious but for some reason my filling all squishes out the sides. Am I getting to much filling in them ? ty
Try freezing them after you fill them it also makes it easier to cut lol
OMG! These look so delicious!
I wonder if one could find a way to make “Salted Toffe”-type “fries”? Just because toffee isn’t bad enough for you in the first place, but you gotta surround it in some sort of dough!
OMG, I am SO going to make these!!!
these look great! thinking of using coarse brown sugar??
Sounds great! 🙂
What a sinful, calorie laden, recipe! And I’m going all the way down eating my fries and enjoying every bite!! Thank you for sharing!! =)
sounds won derful..I’m tryimg these tomorrow..Wonder if raw sugar as its heavier will make it like salt sugar? I’m going to try it..ty.will let you know how they are.
This would be a good time to try the recipe that calls for turning a can of sweetened condensed milk into caramel by using a crock pot.
My mom does the sweetened condensed milk caramel thing, but in a Dutch oven on the stove. Fill with water to cover the can and low boil for an hour and a half on the stove. Delicious!
condensed can of milk turning to caramel definitely does work. I just boil it on top of stove in a pot!!
These are seriously so smart!!! I love this idea.
That is a pretty creative treat!
I make these but with cherry pie filling!!!! Yummo
Oh my word. These sound amazing. You’ve given me some really good ideas. I think I need to avoid making these though, I’d probably eat the whole batch!
Making these now looks good
OMG… These look delicious! Can’t wait to try these! My kiddies will just love them! 🙂
Brilliant! I am definitely gonna try these!
Yum. If I had the ingredients to make these now,I would. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
Do you think these would freeze well? We are having a graduation party and these ‘finger foods’ (in different flavors of pie filling) would be great!
Probably, since regular apple pie freezes well. 🙂
Oh, I’m so PINNING this for future making! Can’t wait!!!!
oh.my.word. I’m so trying these! Look delicious!
My heavens…sounds like a lovely sin on a plate! Can’t wait to serve this delicious treat to ME, oh yes, and my 2 grandsons. YUM!
would love to try these! Where would I find the roll cutter??
Thank You
Use a pizza cutter 🙂
Pampered Chef has a really nice crimping pastry wheel.
I just made these and they are wonderful….. everyone LOVED them Thank you for posting them
Do you eat these right out of the oven? Or can you eat them at room temperature later? I just wonder how long before hand you can make them. Would be nice for a morning brunch with family.
Warm or room temp…is fine.
Great to know! I am going to make these to put in lunchboxes!!
I just made these. The flavor is good, however, I found the cooking times and/or temp to not work for me. I started cooking them at 350 for 12 min. They were still raw. 20 min still not done. The package for the pie crust says 450 for 12 min. So I bumped up the temp to the package instructions and they were burnt (probably because they were already partially cooked, dur) . Also they did not puff up like in the photo. Somewhere I did something wrong. I’ll have to experiment I think. I think I will also try a cherry topping and serve with dark chocolate dip. Thank you for the recipe.
I to made these and they took a lot longer to cook than what the recipe says. Also the pie filling seeped out of the sides.I don’t think I will be making these again.
Temperature and time definitely incorrect in recipe. Increase both.
Yep, same here. 350 for 30 minutes and they still weren’t cooked. I threw them away. Bummer, they looked so good.
30 minutes at 350 degrees..they should’ve been burnt to a crisp…check your oven. 🙂
I had the same problem. They had been in the oven for 20 + minutes. Trying it again at a higher temperature to see if that makes a difference. Definitely doesn’t cook in 12-15 minutes at 350 degrees!
… For the vast majority of food, you can just put it back in the oven until it *is* cooked.
I am going to try to sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar
These came out great! I set the temp. to 425 degrees – 350 degrees didn’t sound right using Pillsbury pie crust. The only problem I had was, my husband and I couldn’t stop eating these! Thanks a lot! ha ha I made homemade caramel sauce for the dipping sauce.
I don’t know what I did wrong :-(. Too much Apple? It’s oozing when I cut them
Too much apple..a thin layer is all you need. Try again..they’re worth it. 🙂
Thanks .. I will try again!
I made these but had trouble cutting them, when I cut them filling spilled out. It said the special cutter was optional, but that could be the problem or I just used to much filling.
Yes..too much filling, a sharp knife will work fine too.
After you put the second crust on top, did you press it down slightly? Not just at the outside edge, but make contact throughout, as you will be cutting throughout. Use just the 1 to 1-1/2 cups of filling, but make sure you have contact prior to egg wash and cutting. It would probably behoove you to chill it all prior to cutting and baking. Traditionally, after you assemble a pie, you chill it before baking so that the fat in the crust is once again cold.
Your ideas are consistently inspiring! Thank you!
Made these yum then tried blueberry filling felt like a kid when I was stirring a bowl of vanilla ice to soften and dip with blueberry ran out a lot but still good. Thanks
The heck with fruit – I’m going to try this with Nutella!
OH YEAH!
I, too, was excited to try these — even went to Williams-Sonoma to buy the fluted pastry wheel and the fancy coarse sugar. Just as others have mentioned, this recipe took about 20 minutes to cook. Even one cup of apple pie filling was enough to ooze out the sides, but when I reduced it a bit more, the “fries” had very little apple flavor. The caramel sauce made them edible. Sorry, however, I won’t be making these again. So disappointed.
Sorry to hear that..I’ve made them so many times and never had one leak. Not sure why yours had no flavor…strange. 🙁
Great idea and so many varieties can be made… I am making them with cinnamon sugar filling and dipping them in a cinnamon roll cream…
Hi Amy, I really what to make these but im from New Zealand and we dont have pre maid pie crust, what is the pie crust? Is it a kind of pastry? I can make most things just dont know what kinda pastry it would be?
You can make a simple from scratch pie crust. 🙂
Im a kiwi too! Ive made these before using pre rolled sheets of edmonds puff pastry that you can get at any of our supermarkets, and the premade canned pie filling from countdown, cause im a little lazy that way. Haha
How could I make the apple pie filling from scratch?
I use green apples – just boil them with a little water and some brown sugar (sorry, I don’t measure much). Just like caramelising. I use this method for all recipes that use apples.
How many calories?
this not something you count calories on just enjoy 🙂 in moderation :))>>
Hi! I made these, even after reading through the comments. I too found that a higher temp worked better for me as did using less filling. I used about 3/4 cup (made 1 full but ended up snacking on some 😉 ) total and had very little seepage when cutting. I did happen to have sanding sugar on hand but I also had some Sweet Apple Sprinkle from Pampered Chef which I used as well! It’s delicious and I thought if I had the same “no taste” issue as an above commenter at least I had that sprinkled on it! After about 15 minutes at 450 they were done for me! They turned out pretty well! This is a really really great idea!
Could you please tell me, did you cut them when they were cooled down? I see a lot of the comments says It oozed out and even before I read the comments I was wondering what stops that because the sides wouldn’t “seal’ when cutting them because the filling is all over the pie crust, even some of the pics looks like it seeped out. Thanks
Cut them before baking…make sure your filling is in a thin layer. I had zero mess. 🙂
What else can i use instead of egg was cause we don’t eat them.
try using a milk wash. (good for browning – not as shiny as egg wash)
make many batches of these with several changes. They have become something everyone in the family asks for. I did do the recipe as said the first time.. but not as good as could be these are several ways I have mixed it up. Apple sauce… same texture as using the pie filling and much easier just add more cinno-sugar same taste cheaper and easier. Want sauce to dip in ?? take the apple sauce or pie filling puree and mix in some carmel topping… tastes great and gives you more apple flavor… I have used fresh blue berries, raspberries and cherries… just put in a pot with a small amount of water and some sugar heat till bubbly then use a potato masher… let cool a bit and use as a filling (and dip too!!) Basically I made homemade jam/pie filling with a lot less fluid. Great recipe fun and very easy to do…. I do recommend following the heating directions with the box of pie crust you get this recipe has the heat way too low… I generally cook for 10 mins or less on 425… then one minute under the broiler. nice a crispy…. and soft and fluffy on the inside…
I made these today and they are really good. I used caramel apple pie filling and i used to much- tried to keep it thin but mine leaked a little bit also. But they are still good with caramel dip, my family loved them. I will make them again using less filling and also try different flavors. I got my pastry wheel at Bed,Bath and Beyond for $5.00 and it worked great! Thanks for the recipe!
So I made these. The recipe called for a cup and a half of the filling which I found is too much and it seeps out the sides when cut and made it difficult to transfer to the baking pan. So to those out there…you really only need about a half a cup of filling.
You are a genius, and I am about to gain 10 pounds!!
Lol..well, thank you! 🙂
Well, I’m sure there are recipes you can get to help get rid of it later 🙂
This looks AMAZING!!!
Just saw this pinned on my Facebook……..so easy and looks great. I am going to try this soon.
I was doing good until the caramel was dripping down. Now I’ve got to make these. Thank you.
This is going to be more calories than pie when you dip it in caramel.
Yep…! 🙂
Looks good going to try them also with different flavors. Just one question i don’t like eggs/milk for basting, WHAT ELSE CAN I BASE WITH FOR COATING.
Thank you!
Hmmm..all you really need is something so the Sugar sticks, maybe just a light brushing of water?
Or melted butter. it would help with the browning
Pizza cutter would work great for cutting them too, you just wouldn’t get the pretty edges is all .
Hi we dont have fresh pie crust in this country (uk) would puff pastry or short crust pastry work?
Look up Pie Crust on the internet and you should get a lot of answers. Puff pastry would not and short crust is I think too heavy.
I bet using natural cinnamon apple sauce would work awsome!
fill with Nutella! Yum!
I knew you were good, but this makes me think that you’re some kind of wizard.
this is delicious…i want some
So its basically think of a food .
And fry it. .
Yeah , Very inventive ..
These are baked.
And the URL to your website full of creativity is… ? (Holds breath)
So STINKING smart!!
Where do I find a recipe for the “carmel” ketchup?
It’s a metaphore for the ketchup. It’s just caramel.
oh my goodness!!! I found what I’ll do this weekend! My mom will definitely love this!! Thank youuuuu for sharing!!!! :3 Will definitely save this on my laptop and phone! Going to list the ingredients now! 🙂
Definitely not enough for sharing lol! These are such a cool idea, perfect for parties too 🙂
These look absolutely delicious! I love everything apple and can’t wait to make! 🙂
Not sure if you used sugar or salt on this! What exactly did you use? A special kind of sugar?
Sugar 🙂
My kiddos and I just made these with a pumpkin filling (pumpkin, brown sugar, spices). So yummy!! Thank you 🙂
I want to make these for the kids!
Is there a way to substitute the egg wash with something else? I work in a daycare and the kids would love these, but we have children with egg allergies.
Cream would work…I hope the kiddos love them! 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing this super fun recipe with us. I am always on the look out for new things to do with apples. I am sure these will be a family favorite.
Smile from across the miles.
Brinda Indiana USA
could I use puff pastry instead? We have a bunch of puff pastry left and lots of apples.
It’s worth a try~
Do they get soggy if you make them the night before!
I didn’t make them the night before, but I think they might!
Ok….we have a contest every year the day after TG using leftover turkey. I want to use my emulsion blender with turkey and apples for the filling! A little sweet and savory…..I think it might be a winner! Great recipe as is!
About how many do these make?
Like 2 dozen plus some. 🙂
After Thanksgiving, filled with leftover butternut squash (with cinnamon, nutmeg and a bit of sugar). Richer flavor than pumpkin in my opinion. And used home made pie crust from scratch which only took about 7 minutes and avoided a shopping run.
You need to correct the recipe and specify that you do need the special cutter. These turned out horrible because I followed the instructions you posted. If you don’t crimp/seal the edges, its going to leak. Remember, you are showing this to simple people who may not be bakers(as you clearly are). They smell wonderful and taste good but they look nothing like the picture. I like to think of myself as an above par baker-please don’t waste peoples money and time with false information.
If you look closely at the edges..you can see that they are NOT crimped in any way! The edges are purely decorative~ 🙂
Actually, not *purely* decorative. A ravioli style zig-zag cutting wheel presses the pastry together over a wider area, and does form a better seal.
I apologize,
It does appear that the crimping is decorative, but just let me say that you are an extremely talented photographer then because there is no way that leakage isn’t going to be on these things and less filing is going to mean no taste whatsoever. Great attention getter with the pic. but not so mouth watering tasting and perfect looking.
I was thinking of using some Christmas cookie cutters – we’ll see how that goes.
and Christmas colored sprinkles : )
Yummy!!!, these are amazing.
I am thinking of Peach pie filling as well. I have some apples that I might sauce myself and use because I find apple pie filling to be too sweet.
I was also thinking of blueberry, but not sure I would want a caramel dipping sauce for that. Any ideas as to a good dipping sauce for Blueberry?
I should think that a simple vanilla frosting would be good with the blueberry.
Instead of using an egg wash, could you use milk? Or even just a bit of water?
Love these! Definitely recommend! But beware, messy!
I am going to make this and use cinnamon sugar on top instead of salt
YUM~ although I didn’t use salt..it is Sugar to mimic the typical salt on fries! Love your Cinnamon idea! 🙂
I just discovered this recipe this morning so I haven’t tried them yet, but I am diabetic. Therefore, I am going to skip the sugar “salt”, and I’m going to use “no sugar added” apple pie filling and add a little cinnamon. For the caramel dipping sauce I am going to use Sugar free caramel ice cream topping ~ I often use this just to dip apple slices in. For those who want to use something different than caramel for a different flavored filling, you might consider a a fruit flavored cream cheese or thinning down a friut spread of jam.
I’m heading to the store right now to get my ingredients! Thanks!
I just made them and we enjoyed them tremendously!!! I think I could have used a smidgen less filling. I bought a tool @ WalMart made by Wilton (the cake decor co) called a Fondant Cutter & Embosser. Little white plastic thing with a couple of interchangeable wheels and it cost less than $3. It sealed the edges as it cut ~ but this is why I think I could have used a little less because some of them did leak a little…but no big deal.
I’m considering trying a chunky no sugar added applesauce next time if I can find on. The no sugar pie filling was excellent, but the applesauce would just save the food processor step…..it looks like applesauce when it’s done anyway.
I highly recommend this recipe for a great snack. We loved it!
Great ideas! So happy you enjoyed them. 🙂
I just wanted to share that when I bought my pie sheets that I bought one pkg of the store brand and one pkg of the well known manufacturer’s brand. I wanted to be able to compare them.
The can of apple pie filling is enough for 2 two batches…..so I made our second round last night. This time using the store brand pie crusts.
We were much happier with the outcome of the well known brand. It was flakier and just seemed to bake to a nicer crust. There was $1 difference in price, but it definitely was a noticeable outcome difference.
YES~~ When it comes to Pie Crust..name brand is the BEST choice! 🙂
Hi, I was wondering: What sort of pie crust is Pillsbury exactly?
I really wanna do this because it looks delicious, but I’m German so buying the crust you recommended is sort of out of the question, so I’ll have to buy another or just make my own.
So… is it like flaky/pastry? Or a different kind? Help?
Pillsbury’s just a brand name, it’s a bog-standard flour, lard and water short pastry.
Why not cut them right on the cookie sheet?
I just made these. I did turn my oven up to 425 degrees too cook & it took them about 17 minutes to cook & get golden & firm enough to handle. They are so good! I cut my apple pie filling up with a knife. There were larger chunks than applesauce, but it was still fine & it spread well. It didn’t take much at all, really. Then cut it up with a straight edge pizza cutter. Worked fine! They were served after dinner with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, caramel drizzle & a small bit of what was left of the apple filling . It was a HUGE hit! Thank you so much. I’ll definitely be making these again! Quick & easy recipes that are delicious are my favorite.
YAY! 🙂
FYI>>>> Sparkle sugar is a shiny coarse SUGAR…it is in no way SALT.
I make these, but dont use the apple pie filling just apple pie spice, or cinnamom and sugar sprinkled on the top- cut into to strips and bake for about 10-15 min. Only 1 layer . Use the to dip in ice cream, blended pie filling, etc or great to just eat as a snack. My boys always loved them 🙂
Apple, peaches, pumpkin pie… anything could go in there… yummy!
Wow… after reading over the comments — ovens do vary.
I suggest getting an oven thermometer and check your oven temp with it then adjust accordingly whether your oven is running a little “low” or “high” in degrees.
BUT… would you mind adding “parchment paper” and “about how many this makes” to recipe. 🙂
Photos look so yummy!
You’re right, and I added that info~thank you! 🙂
I would either bake these according to pie crust directions or at a higher temp, if baked at 350 it will take about 20-24 minutes
YUMMY! I made these yesterday to reward my husband for doing such an awesome job shoveling 🙂 We both loved them. I didn’t have the course sugar so I just used regular sugar – so delicious. I will definitely keep the apple pie cans on hand so I can make these when company drops in. Thanks for the great post!
I can not wait to make these apple pie fries!! Absolute genius..and I love the name! 🙂
i see no frying in this recipe…and the recipe is called apple pie fries….
You are correct…
I really like the idea of this but I am quite disappointed with the recipe, it’s not just this recipe and I apologize for writing it on here when I know that its actually something that happens quite a lot now, but since when has it been a thing to consider “Package of Pillsbury Refrigerated pie Crust” part of a recipe, shouldn’t a recipe tell you how to make Pie crust and include it in the process, the same with the Apple pie filling. Does it just take up too much space?
So sorry you’re disappointed with my use of shortcuts…yes, it is still part of a recipe if you use packaged ingredients. I’m assuming you don’t churn your own butter from cream that you used from milk that you got from your own cow? Feel free to take my ideas and make the recipe as labor intensive as you’d like. I’m just as happy to inspire… 🙂
I KNOW how to make a pie crust AND pie filling but I really don’t need to make my own for EVERYTHING. I appreciate recipes that figure that I might want to “whip-up” something quick, easy and different.
If I feel the need to make my own pie crust and/or filling, I can do so and STILL get a similar result but this short cut is exactly what I’m looking for, today.
Amen! 🙂
What a fun and interesting way to serve something special to simply anyone!! I love it!! I added some cinnamon to my filling and that gave it a nice little punch!
Yummm! Just made these for dessert and they are great. We cooked for an extra 5-10 mins until slightly browned on top. I did have some oozing, but no big deal. My husband was thinking if we put a couple little holes in the top crust of each fry to let the steam out, it might prevent the oozing? Also, if I made them for a party, I’d cut the pie sheets into thirds instead of in half since the “fries” were a little long. Thanks for the great recipe!
I haven’t made these yet, but I definitely plan to! I think the problem most people are having with the filling is that they’re judging by that big glob of apple in the middle, not by the rest of the dough.
Can u use homemade pie crust and homemade pie filling?
Of course..yum! 🙂
What a cute idea! It doesn’t look that fussy either. I’ll be bookmarking this for later, and I think I’ll try it both ways – one with the filling and one with the applesauce.
Hi, I know it’s weird, but where I live I can’t buy pie crust. How can I make it at home?
Oh my god I am drooling and my stomach is rumbling. This might just be the best looking way to have apple pie that I have ever seen!!
awesome idea! Afraid we don´t have this type of pie crust over here in Germany. Tried it with what you can buy over here, but it all went terribly wrong 🙁 Instead of being nice and crispy the fries were wishy-washy when I let them cool down. At first it seemed to work out, but in the end it didn´t…
I want to make this but your site won’t let me print just the recipe. Normally I can copy just the words and print. If that means having to go back and forth from room to room then it isn’t worth making. Pinning it is great but only when I want to refer back to it. Some of my friends don’t even have Pinterest. Any chance you can add a printable version at the bottom of all of your fantastic recipes?
What a silly girl, I just found out where your print function is. Thank you for including that!
Lol..no worries! Aldo, you can check the “remove images” box at the top of the print page if you don’t want pics. Click on text sections you’d like to remove as well…enjoy! 🙂
So I’ve got my graduation party – or prom as you would call it – tomorrow evening and I’ve decided to make your apple pie fries! They look like delicious finger food! But since I am from Germany we have neither buyable pie crust nor apple pie filling. Do you have any good and fast recipes? I’d would help a ton!!!
You can just make a simple from scratch pie dough! ..CONGRATS! 🙂
I’ve made these about three times now! My 7 yr old loves them and calls them Pie Sticks!
Awesome! 🙂
I made it for my grandchildren, instead of using canned apple which has too much sugar, I cut out a granny smith apple and a mcintosh apple, put cinnamon and organic sugar and honey. bake in oven and add to the pie crust and rebaked in oven. My grandkids loved it. The recipe had less than 1 teaspoon of sugar once completed.
OMG, these sound so amazingly yummy. I would love to make them for our block party, but I would have to make them in advance. Any suggestions, or would they not hold up?
Can you use sweetened applesauce Instead?????
where can you print the pdf?
At the upper right side of the recipe post, you will see in green “PRINT/PDF” 🙂
These look sooo good!!! your blog is amazing!
Thank you SO much Hannah! 🙂
So does the pizza cutter seal the edges as you cut it?
yes…and egg wash helps too! 🙂
yum
Can you use sweetened applesauce Instead?????
Hey, instead of d pie crust, can I make a dough using jux flour and margarine? and maybe refrigerate for an hour or so. thank you!
I just found this recipe and what a clever way of serving apple pie! I cannot wait to try this one out, thank you so much for the idea.
We just made these today, and despite that we had to make the filling and crust from scratch, they turned out magnificent! Best unhealthy snack ever! Thank you so much!
