It’s another magical morphed meal happening here today, and this time it’s safe to say that it’s SPECTACULAR!

I ditched that bright orange cheese powder, and replaced it with everyone’s favorite cheese stick…yep, Mozzarella Sticks have now become the “glue” that holds this magnificent mac together.  Gone are the days when we have to settle for mac n cheese that looks like Cheetos (hmm..not that there’s really anything wrong with that..haha)..but you know what I mean.  😉

I thought why not melt those scrumptious sticks with scoops of mac, then ditch the typical bread crumbs and top the whole thing with um..MORE Mozzarella Sticks just to hold it all together and create an amazing topping!  And here we are!

Let me say, this dish was devoured within minutes, I definitely didn’t make enough, as the sounds of “ooh’s and ahh’s” filled the room.

Jazz up your basic mac and watch as you quickly become everyone’s new favorite person..lol!  😉

Make LOTS!

You can watch the video here, as well as print out the written recipe!  Enjoy! 🙂

What you’ll need:

2 cups elbow mac, boiled and drained

1 cup shredded mozzarella

1/2 cup butter

3/4 cup flour

1-2 cups milk..amounts will vary depending on your sauce consistency

salt and pepper..to taste

10-12 pre-made mozzarella sticks

a baking dish

Directions:

Boil the mac

In a medium pan milt the butter and flour together to create a blonde roux

Pour in the milk, and add some salt and pepper, stirring until thick

Stir in the shredded mozzarella until blended

NOW..stir in about half of the mozzarella sticks, making sure they melt in there and are well combined

Add in the cooked and drained mac

stir to combine

Pour the mac into a baking pan and top with the remaining mozzarella sticks

Bake at 350 for approx. 15 minutes, just so the sticks can become one with the dish.

Scoop out some of that creamy, cheesy, glorious mac n cheese/mozzarella stick goodness, and EAT UP!
