What is the best type of apple to use? Granny Smith? Gala? McIntosh? How thin do you cut the apples? I am very excited to try this.

I thought I would offer an alternatative to the cinnamon extract and food coloring… Just melt the cinnamon imperial red hots… the little red ones… and then add your slices of apples. We used to make these in school for Johnny Appleseed’s Birthday Sept, 26th… Crock pot cooking in a K classroom! The halls would smell so yummy all day long with 3 other classes doing the same activity!

I wonder if these would work in a dehydrator? My mouth is watering just thinking about making these! Also, would the candy Red Hots work if you don’t have cinnamon extract? Thanks in advance!
