I'm going to have to try this! Thank you.
Just another cautionary tale about touching jalapenos:
I used to be able to touch them with no problem, then a couple times my fingers started burning, I was able to use a rubbing alcohol soak to get rid of the stinging. The LAST time, I cut them with no issue until 1/2 hour to 45 minutes later when the burning sensation on my hands started. I googled to find a way to relieve the burning since the rubbing alcohol didn't work. I tried almost every suggestion on google (I refused to pee on my own hands, no matter how desperate I am) but nothing helped. I learned too late that nothing worked because by that time the "juice" had soaked into my skin and could not be washed out. 8 agonizing hours of plunging my hands into ice water until I couldn't stand the cold and then taking them out until I couldn't stand the burning. I love jalapenos but would caution everyone to find gloves to wear while cutting, then dispose of immediately and of course, as you suggest, DON'T touch anything before washing your hands because the "juice" can soak through cheap gloves.
