We had this for dinner tonight, with a side of pancakes and lots (okay, maybe a pint) of local northern WI maple syrup. We bought half a hog in February, and our bacon was sliced thicker, so the mac apples really broke down and it took longer to cook. It was crazy good. Like you, I will never look at an apple in the same way. The fragrance while it was cooking almost did us in. We posted photos on Facebook and are getting lots of comments. great recipe 🙂
