Fall is the best time for all things apple. But let’s face it, there are only so many things you can do with an apple before those bored bites set in. I thought it would be fun to play around with the idea of burnt sugar and see if I couldn’t jazz up those apples.. and it worked!
It worked thanks to the versatile, easy, and multi-functional STEVIA brand, I was able to add the flair that this dessert needed, with none of the calories of traditional sugar.,, and OHhhh.. these are a flavor-packed treat that will quickly become your fall favorite dessert!
What you’ll need for one dozen cups:
approx. 1 cup of Apple Pie filling.. either store bought or homemade.. I used store bought
1/4 cup Nectevia Nectar
1 cup (or so) of STEVIA Simply Natural Sweetener
12 Wonton/Egg Roll wrappers.. one per cup
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup whipped topping
a small/mini sized cupcake pan
A kitchen torch,, or oven with broiler
Gently place the wrappers inside the cupcake pan, carefully pressing them down into the well.. making sure not to create any tears in the dough
In a small bowl,, add the Nectevia Nectar…
Brush the wrappers generously with the Nectevia Nectar…
Bake them at 350 for approx. 6-10 minutes, or just until they’re slightly golden and crispy, **you want that little pool of nectar at the bottom, this will become a sweet, and slightly chewy surprise with each bite…YUM
Now, fill them up with some of the apple pie filling…
Sprinkle the tops of each cup with 1 tsp. of STEVIA Simply Natural Sweetener..
And now for the BEST part.. that light, crispy, golden.. crispy sugared topping! Either lightly torch (OR BROIL in the oven) each cup just until they form a crispy, candied, sugar shell..
Top them with some creamy and cool whipped topping, and a sprinkle of cinnamon…. then crack through that amazing sugared shell.. and DIG IN! ~Enjoy! 🙂
