It’s been a while since.. uhhh, bacon.  And if there’s one thing we should never let get too far away from our grease thirsty hands and lips, it’s a good old, deep fried, bacon recipe to horrify even your closest family and friends.  🙂

Today, that deep fried bacon has lovingly wrapped itself around that innocent classic.. breakfast {slash} dessert {slash} midnight snack.., the one and only Pop Tart!

Yep, I’ve completely corrupted those childhood memories by turning this pretty pastry into a bacon wrapped, oil fried victim.. but oh well!  It’s not every day that one can say they’ve had this dastardly treat, but today is the day! you. are. welcome!

First of all, if you’ve never had a ooey-gooey, fresh from the fryer Pop Tart, you simply have not lived.  There’s nothing like it.  And when you couple all that greatness with a smoky and crispy layer of bacon, drizzled with a sweet cascade of sprinkled frosting….NOW, you’re really living.  I can’t say how long you’ll live, but live for that moment.. you will.  And you will love it.

Make LOTS!

What you’ll need for 6 corrupted Pop TARTS:

1 lb. bacon..thin sliced.

3 packs of pop tarts, any flavor

white frosting and sprinkles for garnish.. optional

oil for frying..I use either canola or veg oil

Directions:

wrap each pop tart with approx. 2 slices of bacon.. making sure to overlap each slice as you wrap them around… secure with a toothpick…

Place them one at a time, into the hot (350-360 degree) oil and fry them until they’re evenly golden on all sides.  **Side note:  you really want your oil hot enough for this so the pastry stays together.  The frying process goes fast.

Let them cool…

Then drizzle them with some frosting and a dash of sprinkles for that classic Pop Tart experience..

Serve them up.

And DIG IN!  ~Enjoy!  🙂
