My very first flipping of a dessert!!
I’m glad it looks ok, because I told myself that I’d post it no matter what!  🙂
A year ago my mom gave me an amazing cast iron skillet and for some reason today, it looked at me and I could just tell it needed attention!
So, I pretty much grabbed whatever ingredients I had that would make sense, and came up with this.
It turned out great, and I’m a new fan of cast iron!

Grab a pan you don’t use very often, and show it some love! 🙂

?

The perfect “turn-out”..whew! 🙂

?

?
? What you’ll need:

1 box of spiced or apple cake mix (for a skillet, you won’t use all the batter)
1 cup Apple Pie Filling
1/2 cup Maple Syrup
1/4 cup Brown Sugar

?
?

Well, hello there! 🙂

?

Directions:
??
??In a cast iron skillet (Or oven safe pan) add the maple syrup and brown sugar, melt over medium heat until it caramelizes.

When that melts, top it with a layer of the the Apple Pie Filling..(I didn’t need to use the whole can)!
Pour the cake batter over that, but only a thin layer..or it will spill over in the oven!

Transfer to the oven and bake at 350 for approx. 20 minutes..or until the top/bottom is golden and the cake is cooked through!

??

Pre-Flip! 🙂

??

Let it cool before attempting the flip-out!
It should release super easily..and look just gorgeous!
The moist cake, and apple flavors are incredible, and such an impressive, yet simple presentation!
Top with some whipped cream or ice cream and a drizzle of its own sauce..prepare for the Ooo’s and Ahhh’s!
~Enjoy!
