Oh my WOW! I’m not sure if there’s anything quite as comforting as biscuits & gravy, other than maybe buttered biscuits & gravy with tons of little gravy boats built right inside the entire biscuit! Yeah, that’s right!! Every bite is bursting with gravy goodness thanks to the ‘waffle effect’!
“Waffle Effect” meaning: When deliciousness gets trapped inside each square, making every bite better than the last! 🙂
I could tell you how easy and impressive these are to make and serve. I could tell you that I think a waffle iron makes better biscuits than it does waffles. I could totally tell you that when the thick, creamy, peppered sausage gravy fills up all of the built-in gravy boats squares, they reach flavor levels that no other biscuits & gravy have ever seen…lol! But I won’t tell you any of those things, nope..I won’t! 😉
I’m only going to say..try these! It’s the weekend, why not quietly make these for yourself wake the family up with the smell of biscuit waffles and gravy?!
You may want to do it like this..
OR for sure like this… 🙂
What you’ll need:
1 pkg. Pillsbury Grands Biscuits
1 pkg. Jimmy Dean Sausage
1 packet of Country Gravy Mix
Pepper & butter..optional, but necessary for me! 🙂
Directions:
In a medium sauce pan brown the sausage until it’s fully cooked
Sprinkle in the gravy packet and add the required amount of liquid that it calls for..stir well to remove any lumps and combine!
Pepper that baby up!
Keep it warm and set aside!
For the Waffle Biscuits:
Spray the waffle iron with some non-stick spray!
Add the biscuits directly to the waffle iron and let them cook for about 3 minutes..or until they’re golden.
Add the warm gravy right on top of the biscuit waffles and dig in! Feel free to gently lay a perfectly fried egg on top just to make them even more awesome! ~Enjoy! 😉
Now that is a good morning right there!
This is so brilliant! Love love love putting a spin on breakfast for dinner, or dinner for breakfast. And I think it’s so funny that the waffle iron does a better job with buscuits than waffles – I can totally relate!
Thank you so much for sharing, I’ll definitely have to try this out! 😀
Wow – that is amazing! Brilliant to use a waffle maker for the biscuits!
We had this for Dinner. It was great the Biscuits were so very crunchy. My Roomies want to thank you. We will be doing this again.
I’m sooo glad you enjoyed them!! 🙂
You know you are truly from the south when you add the egg…….hahaha.
Great Idea….I am low on funds….Will this work on from scratch Biscuits?
I do not see why thy wouldn’t, you could either make it with drop biscuits
that you spread a little or rolled ones also with homemade gravy. That way you can control the salt
OMG! I can’t believe you would even dare to call that sausage gravy and waffles.. Packaged biscuits and junk in a bag for gravy? Go to Yammies and try the real thing!
Might I ask what you add to your “natural” Gravy that the package doesn’t add/measure out for you?
Is that Pilsbury canned or frozen biscuits?
canned 🙂
Add breakfast sausage, turkey sausage and cook, crumbling with a wooden spoon.
