Fall is here and that means Apples!  Apples are everywhere & everywhere are Apples!  I love Apples and all of the millions of ways to use them, but we need to remember its 3rd cousin twice removed..the Pear!  You know, that sweet, round- bottomed fruit with the good personality..lol?!

So what if Pear “got back”,..it’s what’s on the inside that counts right?!  And the ample Pear has just as much to offer as its popular Ruby Red, well-proportioned cousin!  So in honor of this second fiddle Fall fruit, I did the unthinkable!  I traded in the popular Apple and decided to dip some cool, crisp Pears into hot & drippy Pumpkin Spiced Caramel instead!  These Pears even have super cute Cinnamon Stick handles and some bling in the form of a salty Fleur De Sel sprinkling!  Now it’s a tasty, beautiful Fall fruit worthy of love! 😉

Ahh, when your teeth sink into the sweet, chewy Pumpkin Pie Spiced Caramel and through that tender & juicy Pear, it’s Heaven.  But it’s that little bit of Salt that takes it over the top!  What an epic Fall flavor combo!

Sorry Apple, but I think I just fooled around & fell in love, and I’m not sure I can ever go back to you!  I see Pies, Cookies, Cobblers and Crumbles in my future with Pear, but we can still be friends..lol!  Oh, I’m sure I’ll still grab you every now and then when you’re cheap and available, but for now I’m moving on..haha!  😉

What you’ll need to cheat on 4 of your Apples (If you wanna cheat on more than 4, just double the recipe..and shame on you!)

4 Pears

2 tbsp. Butter

1/2 Cup Light Corn Syrup

7 oz. (half a can) of Sweetened Condensed Milk

1 Cup Sugar

1 tsp. Pumpkin Pie Spice

1 tsp. Vanilla Extract

Long Cinnamon Sticks~one per each Pear…(I found a big bag of them at the Dollar Store) ..or regular wooden sticks will work fine too!

Directions:

Heat all of the ingredients, except for the Vanilla Extract in a medium Sauce Pot, stirring at ALL times!

When the Caramel has turned thick & golden (soft ball stage..took me a good 15 minutes)  remove from the heat and stir in the Vanilla Extract, let it cool for a few minutes..

Gently insert your sticks into the Pears and dunk them into the hot caramel, twirl slowly until 3/4 of the Pear is evenly coated with Caramel, sprinkle them with a dash of the Salt while they’re still sticky..

Place them on a greased sheet, wax paper or cooling rack to set up, it doesn’t take long..

Cut them up into manageable wedges…

Take a crispy, sweet bite of this surprisingly awesome Salted Caramel Pear!  ~Enjoy!  🙂
