Let’s start by getting past the outrageous, insane, sound of this recipe title, and come to grips with the fact that it’s really not that bad! If we think about it logically here, this is just a serving of Lasagna, with what would normally be a ‘Bread course”..right?!
It’s just that THIS particular ‘Bread Course” is stuck to the Lasagna…via some batter and hot oil ~no biggie! 😉
Don’t let the word “fried” scare you away from one of the most delicious and indulgent meals you will ever allow your lips to enjoy!
You deserve to sink down deep into every hot, cheesy, saucy, layer of this Lasagna. And, as a bonus, it’s fun~ since it requires cracking through an epic shell of crispy, crunchy crust! Seriously, I beg…do this just once.
‘WOW’ everyone at your table, amaze your friends~ serve a Salad…LOL! Just do this! 🙂
What you’ll need:
You’ll need Lasagna…duh 🙂 I used a frozen, store bought Lasagna that was amazing. a.k.a= My mom was busy and couldn’t make one for me…so, I had to get creative. But use whatever Lasagna you love, it must be 90% frozen when it’s battered and fried..so freeze it if necessary!!
Some extra Marinara for topping, some Parmesan & Basil if you’d like!
The Batter:
1 Egg
1 1/2 cups Flour
1 & 1/4 cup Water
1 tbsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Sugar
1/2 tsp Salt
Oil for frying~I used Canola
A shallow fry pan
Directions:
In a medium bowl combine all of the Batter ingredients, (NOT the Oil) and mix well…
Cut your semi-frozen Lasagna into square portions, sized to your liking. I found that a 3-4″ square worked well. It should be thawed enough just to be able to get your knife through it and cut it into squares. So pretty darn frozen!
Dip each Lasagna square into the Batter and coat it completely…
Fry it up in the hot oil, making sure that all sides get evenly golden~my size Lasagna square (approx. 3 or 4″) took about 3-4 minutes per side, plus a few seconds making sure the edges were golden.
Let it cool slightly…
But serve it hot with a slathering of extra Sauce…
A sprinkling of Parm. and you’re ready to plate it up…
Ohh…add some Basil…
NOW..dig in, release the Cheese and say Oh~My~GOSH after the first bite…and then eat it all! ~Enjoy! 🙂
This is how I do my rigatoni! After I bake the pan, like lasagna, I cool it, then freeze it and do the same as you did!! Great minds my dear!!! I love it!!!
LOVE that! 🙂
