Yikes~  I know!  …I know, but I simply can’t help myself!  I mean, at least I try to not create over-the-top crazy creations, it’s just that I fail miserably…haha!

Actually, it’s difficult to call these incredible babies a failure, they’re more like the snack that you’ll love to hate, the secret in the family, the unspoken sin..if you will.

When the thought of a doughnut & chip combo hit me in the brain, I was just as surprised as you are right now (maybe)..lol.  I was horrified, concerned, and alarmed…annnd I was also on my way into the kitchen to go make them happen. 🙂

And here we are!  I give to you buttery, flaky layer after layer of crunchy chips, sweet glazed, tender doughnuts that will melt in your mouth as they melt your heart.  You’ll hear a crispy crunch, you’ll feel a soft and sweet bite between your lips and all of your senses will almost explode.

Please believe me when I tell you that this magnificent marriage of flavors and textures is the BEST thing to ever happen to a doughnut.  They’re not just good, oh noooo~ I’m talking sweet, salty, tender, crunchy, warm, gooey-doughnutty-goodness gracing your lips and shamelessly kicking your self control to the curb kind of good!

Try one bite, just one bite…and you’ll never be the same! 🙂

~Make LOTS!

What you’ll need:

2 containers of crescent dough..or the dough sheets

4 cups of Potato Chips

1 cup of classic vanilla frosting

a 3″ round cookie/doughnut cutter

oil for frying

Directions:

Crush 2 cups of the chips into a bread crumb-like consistency.  Set aside…

First roll out one of the dough sheets, and seal the seams if necessary…by pinching them together.

Now spread a thin layer of frosting over the dough…

And now the fun part…add the CHIPS!  In a single layer onto the frosting, don’t crumble them first, you want a nice layer in each bite.

Top that with the other dough sheet, and give them a gentle roll together…

Repeat the frosting and chip layers, fold the dough over and roll it out again~ *you don’t have to do this step if you’re ok with not as many layers in the finished doughnut!  They’re delicious either way!

Cut out the doughnuts…

Fry them up in the hot (350 degree) oil until they’re golden on both sides…

Let them cool completely…

Now, warm up the frosting and drizzle it over the doughnuts…

Top them with the crushed chips… AHHH YEAH!  …don’t be shy!

You’ll have a crowd around you at this point…

Serve them now, or risk an attack…lol

But make sure you get one for YOU!  ~Enjoy! 🙂
