I’ve always loved being in the kitchen cooking and creating new recipes.

MY JOURNEY

It’s a little out of the ordinary but  I’ve been raising money for leukemia research almost my whole life. I started doing this when I was 7 years old. I’ve had leukemia 3 times… I first got it when I was 2, then when I was 6 I relapsed. It hit me a lot harder the second time, I was older and it made me realize how important it was to be healthy. This changed me and how I looked at life. I decided I wanted to make a difference… so I took my love for cooking and started doing charity events to raise money to help find a cure.

When I was eleven I relapsed for a second time, by this time I had written my inspirational cookbook“Twist It UP” and had established the Jack Witherspoon Endowment for Pediatric Leukemia research. I had less than a 50% chance of survival, but with great doctors and my family’s support I beat the odds.

Over the years I’ve raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for leukemia research and appeared on many national television shows.

My company, Chef Jack’s continues my philanthropic journey as part of the proceeds will be donated to the Jack Witherspoon endowment so that someday no kid or adult will have to know the feeling of not being able to do the things they love because they aren’t healthy. It may seem that buying a bag of cookies is just a drop in the bucket to finding a cure…. with your help, I think it can be a pretty big drop.
